As I crossed from Hong Kong to the mainland at Shenzhen Bay, an automated passport chip reader requested I provide all my fingerprints. The system is new, but its design simple and primary, like Windows XP. Once it had received all this biological data, the system popped up with a polite "Welcome to China!". Very cyberpunk, very "New Era" China (新时代中国).
我不禁思考這個系統到底有多整合、多綜合。這些在深圳灣採集到的指紋真的

I do wonder thought how integrated and comprehensive the system actually is. Are the fingerprints taken here at Shenzhen Bay actually linked into one enormous national system, with potentially more than a billion sets of fingerprint data? For example, has the system realised from my fingerprints that I have two passports and over the past year or so entered China on both? Or is this just a show piece of hi-tech and secure New Era China. On the other side of the passport check, I passed a red banner: "港口强，国家强", "If the borders are strong, The country is strong."

In the Beijing subway, Baishiqiao station (白石桥), I saw this curious contraption. It's also part of the security apparatus, though its "Old Era" and military-industrial aesthetic—the stenciled lettering, the marks of heavy industry, the fact that something like this could only be designed by a state owned company finding excuses to use up excess steel production —could not be more different from the smiling cyber-dystopia of the Shenzhen border crossing. It seems China's security apparatus is a broad church of old and new.

As soon as I saw the lettering on this heavy metal ball, however, my mind couldn't help but add the character liao to bao. Baoliao is the word used for potentially explosive exposé documents, and most recently associated with GUO Wengui (Miles Kwok) and his detailed public exposure of Wang Qishan's business dealings and corruption in the run up to the 19th Party Congress. I wondered if inside this explosion prevention ball was in fact an archive of slanderous documents, deposited inside to keep them safely out of reach of prying journalists and rival cadres.

飛機起飛，不安落地。去機場前在醫院拿到了HPV和TCT報道，沒有什麼大問題。其實事情根本不是big deal，只是上一周因為那位年長醫生的描述而受到了驚嚇。「HPV兩個高危感染還不來復查？小姑娘你膽子太大了吧！」那位「資深」醫生說，我以為一年復查一次即可，這也是我為什麼在這裡，但醫生這番話使我度過了高空飛行的一周。期間我看了簡單的科普，說HPV高危感染多年才可能引起病變，而病變多年才可能成為癌症，注意這裡都是可能（和朋友討論說HPV最近大有被妖魔化的傾向）。但是，醫生就診時的態度還是主要決定了病人的心理；人和人之間的互動總是能夠超越一部分理性。因此，這持續恐慌的一周時間內我都不確定南方之旅是否能成行，是否這次能見到香港深圳和廣州的朋友們，是否應該答應小船幫忙慢遞，一切懸而未決……我在一疊報告中尋找我那張時忍不住顫抖……之前感染的兩個高危病毒自愈了！雖然報告顯示我感染了另外兩例HPV病毒，然而当我确信地得知身体拥有自愈的能力后，我似乎意识到目前正在掌舵的那位年輕但穩重大方的pilot的存在，坐在機艙的我只看見了ta的背影，驾驶着我的身体所在的这架航班，「女士們先生們，我們的飛機受到了氣流顛簸，請您系好安全帶……」
The airplane takes off and lands with an uneasy feeling. Picked up the HPV and TCT test results from the hospital before leaving for the airport; looks like there wasn't anything to worry about. Actually the whole thing was not really a big deal, but that elderly doctor's way of talking about it last week had scared me. “Two high-risk contractions of HPV, how could you wait so long to come in for an examination? Young lady, you really know how to take risks!" I thought having a check-up once a year would be enough, that's why I'm here now. But the doctor's repetitive scolding just left me with a whole week of flying on high-altitude alert. I researched the basic characteristics of HPV, which said that contagious, high-risk HPV can remain in the body as a disease for many years, and that after an extended period could become cancerous. I took note of all the possibilities (also in discussion with friends about how HPV has been especially overhyped recently). But a doctor's attitude when making a diagnosis is the primary determinant of the patient’s psychology. The interactions between people will always be influenced by something more than rationality. And so, this resulting week of continuous panic made it uncertain whether or not the trip down south would be possible or not, made it uncertain whether or not I would be able to see friends in Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Guangzhou, and uncertain whether or not I could help Boat courier her books. Everything lay in suspense towards that trembling moment of sifting through a pile of reports to find mine: the two high-risk strains I had contracted before had somehow cured themselves! Although reports had shown that I was infected with two other HPV viruses, the self-healing thing actually exists. Knowing the fact that my body can cure itself brought me back to this plane I am a passenger on, and the young but calm pilot steering the aircraft, the one only visible to me, seated in the passenger cabin, as a sturdy back silhouette. And then suddenly overhead: "Ladies and gentlemen，we are crossing a patch of turbulence, please fasten your seat belts..."

Not long after receiving the order for Display Distribute's "Second Mountain" series title NAM, courier Ms. Ho travels to Guangzhou for a printing project and is able to pick-up the route to Guangzhou resident “firefly”. On the evening of the scheduled delivery, firefly informs courier HO that his receiving address is at Guangzhou University's Guihuagang campus, a convenient location for HO because she happens to be nearby on Shenjing island having a barbecue with friends. However, being unfamiliar with Guangzhou, she realises soon after that Guangzhou University's multiple campuses are spread all over the city, and firefly's address is located in far away Baiyun District about two hours' travel away. Resolute nevertheless, she sets out, and on the way is informed that firefly has gone to Tianhe District for dinner. Display Distribute is a thematic investigation, distribution service, exhibition space and sometimes shop based in Kowloon, Hong Kong. Exportation to Berlin is not necessarily a question of movement but rather in this instance a durational tactic of merely staying in place. Incoming packages, crates and parcels build up, turning the museum into a port of entry, docking ground and 11-day sublet. Artistic services and logistics gone awry engage the administrative and institutional as a question of multi-functionality. From the midst of a Festival into the middle of a Fair, this anti-spectacular moment of stasis traces the grey subjectivities behind bottom-up processes and mass production as a negotiation in movement.

從台灣客戶拍了兩本展銷場的書過了剛好三個月後，「後勤」慢遞員吳小姐要從新竹市上臺北，約了收件人從桃園出來交收兩本香港來的書。
Almost exactly three months after placing an order with Display Distribute, LIGHT LOGISTICS courier Ms. NG is able to greet the happy and shy receiver of books from Hong Kong.
Comic book artist June LEE reprints new sets of his “How to Use Space” series to update Display Distribute stock, catching curator-writer-courier Ms. YAO just before her short trip to Beijing to visit friends and participate in a talk. One of those friends is Mr. QU, former colleague of Ms. HO. She will arrive in Beijing a few days later to visit friends, too, maybe also to participate in a lecture-performance.
Courier-artist LI will be embarking from the beginning of June upon a north-south cross-country trip with her 2 year-old daughter and 13 year-old nephew, final time of arrival uncertain but with a long awaited return to Lijiang Studio as the final destination. There, she will be reconvening with her husband, who will take go by car from their home in Changchun, and her parents, who live in Shenzhen. LI curated a two-year long mural project at Lijiang Studios several years ago, culminating in the book
Lijiang Studio Mural Stories.
