89年6月7日凌晨,“六四”鎮壓後的數天,香港油麻地發生一場騷亂,導致「支聯會」於當天早上叫停了原訂為全民罷工、罷課、罷市(三罷),預計有150萬人參與的悼念活動。其後有指滋事份子其實都是由中共派來,目的是破壞這場大遊行,而這騷亂最終亦引致香港人「錯過了」為“六四”而做的一件事,至今廿六年。「碧街事變」六四滾動街頭劇場,從當年的剪報及油麻地街坊的口述故事出發,以「行動劇」形式於油麻地街頭重演這場騷亂,故事分三線進行,包括一對因騷亂而失約的小情侶;一位與「革命」擦身而過的老伯和一位於學校策動聲援行動的中學生。本出版收錄「碧街事變」的演出片段、劇本、街坊口述故事及相關的剪報文獻。

At midnight on June 7th, 1989, a few days right after the Tiananmen massacre at Beijing, there was a riot in Hong Kong’s Yaumatei district on Pitt Street. After this riot, a public memorial event with a predicted 1.5 million participants was called off. It is said that the riot was started by the Chinese government so as to force the cancellation of the memorial event. Indeed, it has kept Hongkongers from commemorating the massacre up to this day… Pitt Street Riot is an action theater based upon documents and oral history collected from the Yaumatei neighborhood. The theatre consists of three storylines: an elderly left-wing man brushes past the ‘riot’, two lovers go missing on a date because of the riot and a secondary school student tries to engage in an action at school to support the movement…
