「自我介紹下,我是竹子自行車工作室Free U Nature聯合發起人,本週我們去Green Peace北京辦公室的時候,有朋友知道我們最近在做郵差慢遞的事情——「郵差慢遞」的誕生,源於一個現實:我們一直在在倡導大家低碳出行,更多的選擇自行車出行替代開車或者打車,做竹子自行車雖然吸引人且連接感強(參與者需花3、4天親手製作),行為轉化也非常高,很多人從不騎車到經常騎車,但我們發現門檻較高,需要付出時間和精力,參與的人數受到限制,與我們「倡導更多人綠色出行」的目標存在距離。如何降低參與門檻?我們每天騎車通勤,就在想:能否在從家到單位的路上,在騎車運動的途中順帶攜帶一些物資? 恰好,我們自身也踐行「舊物新生」,衣物用品多來自慈善商店或朋友循環。生活中也觀察到,很多人(不分老少)都有積攢二手袋子的習慣,但實際使用的遠少於積攢的量,導致家裡袋子成堆。同時,我們瞭解到許多踐行可持續理念的小商家(慈善商店、有機市集等),他們鼓勵顧客自帶袋子或使用二手袋,但往往面臨袋子供應不足的問題,以及有限地宣傳。 於是,連接點出現了:我們這些熱愛騎行、擁有騎行社群的人,能否成為連接「綠色個人」(有閒置袋子)和「綠色商家」(需要袋子)的紐帶?就像我當年騎行串聯「沙發點」一樣,「郵差慢遞」應運而生。我們倡導人們把積攢的袋子放在指定收集點或由我們安排交接,騎行愛好者則化身「郵差」,利用日常通勤路線、鍛鍊路線,將這些袋子送到需要的商家。這就是「郵差慢遞」的雛形——從連接「綠色個人」(提供袋子者)和「綠色商家」(需求袋子者)開始。令人欣喜的是,真的有人願意參與,這讓我們感到價值所在。

I'll introduce myself: I'm a co-founder of Free U Nature, a bamboo bicycle studio, and this week when we visited the Green Peace office in Beijing, friends who knew about our Slow Post project sent your website to me. Our Slow Post originated from a practical observation: We have been advocating for low-carbon transportation, encouraging people to choose bicycles over driving or taking taxis. While making bamboo bicycles is appealing and fosters a strong sense of connection (participants spend 3–4 days crafting them by hand), the behavioral transformation is also very high—many people go from never riding bikes to riding them regularly. However, we found that the barriers for participation are high, because it requires a lot of time and effort, so the level of participation is still limited, and this creates a gap from our goal of 'encouraging more people to adopt green transportation'. How can we lower the participation barrier? As we were commuting by bicycle everyday, we wondered it if it might be possible to carry extra things along the way from home to work? At the same time, we also practice 'upcycling', with many of our clothes and items coming from thrift stores or friends' hand-me-downs. We observe that many people (regardless of age) have the habit of accumulating secondhand bags, but their actual use is far less than the amount accumulated, leading to piles of bags at home. Additionally, we learned that many small businesses practicing sustainable principles (such as charity shops and organic markets) encourage customers to bring their own bags or use secondhand bags, but often face issues of insufficient bag supply and limited promotion. Thus, a connection point emerged: Could we, as cycling enthusiasts with a cycling community, serve as a bridge between 'green individuals' (who have unused bags) and 'green businesses' (who need bags)? Kind of like how I had once done a cycling trip and connected my journey via couchsurfing spots, the Slow Post project was born. We encourage people to place their extra bags at designated collection points or arrange for us to collect them. Cycling enthusiasts then act as 'couriers', using their daily commuting or exercise routes to deliver these bags to businesses in need. This is the first prototype for Slow Post—connecting 'green individuals' (those providing bags) and 'green businesses' (those in need of bags). It has been heartwarming that people are actually willing to participate, and this makes us feel our efforts are worthwhile.
