Hallo dear C,
Thank you for making the payment of the shipping cost, well received! Unfortunately, it arrived a bit later in the day when I was already inside LaGuardia Airport (and inside TSA's grip) waiting for a flight to Texas for other couriering duties, and there was no post office in the airport! So your dispatch travelled with me to Dallas, and although the price was higher from the longer distance, I didn't want to delay your reading any further and proceeded to post it this afternoon; there is a tracking number in the photo receipt. While we won't demand the extra cost after the fact, if you have any possibility to support our work for semi-autonomous publishing, would be very helpful if you can make an extra donation at your convenience. Thank you again, and warmest wishes from Dallas, Texas.

RECEIVER pays US$11.92 for regular ☹︎ postal service for dispatch HQL-795, but in the mean time, COURIER PORTABLE has already travelled from New York to Dallas, relaying the dispatch with her; in Dallas, she discovers that even though the shipping cost is now greater than the cost of the book as well as more than the amount RECEIVER has paid for New York to Cambridge, but decides to send through anyway; while trying to take a photo of the postage stamped package, the postal worker immediately snatches it away, forbidding photography: "No ma'am. Once it's in our possession it's considered our package until it's not."

Dispatch HQL-795 awaiting relay; COURIER PORTABLE has been jetlagged and out of sync since she arrives, but perhaps a warped perspective can support some new thoughts; she writes a mini story based upon her recent journeys:
Bottle Fly had been cruising around for awhile, and the world, despite however bleak, seemed promising. The shit of the earth was his every meal, and he looked for what stank and rotted and fell fallow. He would cherish the waste that other creatures ignored, and that was his way of cleaning up after a dirty world. It had its own taste and he felt that he had his place in the ecosystem, sometimes infecting a human or two with erratic dysentery to slow them down a bit. But even after every operation, the world looked mostly the same and Bottle Fly's buzz began to wear off. The regal emerald sheen on his abdomen slowly lost its reflective abilities, and the world upon which he had once tasted brown fruit began to swallow him. They swallowed each other. All of the terrors of human power only repeated themselves from country to country—in prison cells and presidential suites and in the crack of a road that's about to cave in. Actually, Bottle Fly doesn't know enough to distinguish between all of these disasters. He knows nothing of borders or inequality, wealth or poverty. He eats shit. And while that was his sustenance, the shit of the world began to wear on him, and he grew tired.
He lands to rest for a while on Elephant Ear Leaf. Elephant Ear Leaf feels his weight and jounces ever so slightly, just so that Bottle Fly doesn't notice that Elephant Ear is catching him. They rest for a while together in silence. And just as the sun also begins to take its daily nap, Elephant Ear asks Bottle Fly quietly, "Did you want to change the world?" Bottle Fly rubs his left and right front tarsi together slowly, then more quickly, thinking about the shit he will eat for dinner. "Oh, you didn't?"

COURIER PORTABLE lands in New York smoothly and plugs into John F. Kennedy International Airport wifi to download several apps for a United States eSim, only to discover that none are compatible with her mobile phone; New York logisticking will have to be handled just a tiny bit slower; first, a taxi into Manhattan

A short layover at Taoyuan International Airport doesn't leave much time; COURIER PORTABLE clumsily moves from Terminal 1 to Terminal 2 thinking about cultural differences in reading signage, passes slowly through security clearance again, and settles down in front of gate 5, only able to leave a few voice messages to her friend and fellow courier The Dashing Soliloquist (HQL-792), who is currently visiting home in Taipei for a few weeks

COURIER PORTABLE departs from Hong Kong International Airport in nervous spirits, as a war has just broken out due to US and Israeli attacks on Iran, and the sociopolitical environment in the States ("the 'united' ones) seems less than welcoming for her three-month sojourn in the country; a flight on China Airlines via Taipei offers Care Bears-themed snacks, however, and the cuteness softens her journey—a short nap ensues
