『箭廠空間』是北京中心城区独立运营的一家另类艺术空间。2008年3月，我们租下箭厂胡同中一间空出的临街店铺，将它改造为可以每周7天，每天24小时向路人展示的空间。箭厂空间是独特环境下的产物，其艺术项目也持续对周遭各种条件作出积极回应。2019年，箭厂空间在运营11年另6个月后被迫关闭，期间共举办了59场展览活动，持续推动不同形式的艺术展示、合作与实验。
《箭厂空间五年书》是其位于箭厂胡同38号空间的第3本也是最后一本出版物，记录了2015至2019年之间发生的21个艺术项目，并与13位曾经与箭厂合作过的艺术家展开10场对话，也带来箭厂三位联合创办人所作的常规问答。本书带着“如何与箭厂一起工作”这样一个问题，听取艺术家们如何做空间，如何回应本地艺术的生态系变动，特别是各种围绕着箭厂空间的变化而灵机应变的工作。
Arrow Factory was an independently-run alternative art space, located in a small hutong alley in Beijing’s city center. From March 2008 through September 2019, Arrow Factory reclaimed an existing storefront and transformed it into a space for site-specific installations designed to be viewed from the street twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Arrow Factory was contingent upon its immediate environment, presenting works that formed meaningful responses to the diverse conditions of its given locality. In 2019, after more than a decade of mounting fifty-nine site-oriented artistic displays, collaborations and experimentations by local and international artists, Arrow Factory was compelled to close.
Arrow Factory: The Last Five Years is the third and final book on this ambitious initiative. It documents the twenty-one artists’ projects exhibited from 2015 through 2019, features ten conversations with thirteen artists from its past history, and presents an in-depth discussion with Arrow Factory’s co-founders on the project’s origins, aims and working methods. Structured around a theme of “How to Work with Arrow Factory”, these various exchanges share insights on spatial production, changes in the local arts ecosystem, and the ways that Arrow Factory navigated through Beijing’s ever-shifting creative and cultural landscape.
